The purpose of this site is to introduce you to our members - past (including some of our history) and present - and to our music.

Hentie Visagie and his sons, Johann and Kobus, together with Nicol Louw started Klipwerf Boereorkes in 1969. They became enormously popular virtually overnight, and following the natural flow of things, recorded their first album almost 20 years later - in 1988. Since 1990 Klipwerf Orkes has been recording an album per year, and because of the unique style, demand for public performance has doubled and redoubled. Klipwerf has since become a household name in South Africa, sparking countrywide performances.

With sales in excess of 1.2 million records, Klipwerf Orkes is the most successful South African Band ever. Of their twenty-four albums and two DVDs, twenty two albums reached Gold status, and six Platinum.

Updates to this site will be done from time to time, especially in the albums section. Because of the nature of the site, other updates will be few and fairly far between and will be mostly cosmetic. Please do not hesitate to let us know of things you would like to see here. Should the suggestion prove viable, we will gladly implement it.

Another decision we made that concern you directly is not to implement online secure ordering. Firstly, the cost is quite prohibitive, and because of the nature of the internet, it is not 100% secure. We would not want to have even one of our supporters suffers even the slightest loss.
